I was commissioned to paint a portrait of the amazingly stylish Bryan Ferry.
I have a very eclectic taste in music. I listen to anything from Sabbath to Ludovico Einaudi plus everything in between and I do love a bit of Roxy music!
I found some images of him wearing this amazing Louis Vuitton jacket and I thought it would make an awesome painting.
I usually begin by drafting out the image in pencil directly onto the canvas. I then add the background in acrylic before painting the rest in oils.
I only had two weeks to paint this, I decided to try Gamblin's Galkyd light to speed up the drying time of the paint.
I don't usually use anything with a solvent in it as I'm really sensitive to strong smells and they flare up my migraines. It did give me a sore head unfortunately but it's handy to have in a pinch!
This was a 60th birthday present and the recipient was absolutely delighted with the painting!
